For as long as I can remember, Rugby has been a part of my life and today our DHL AfricaAsOne team got to meet every rugby captain who has lifted The Webb Ellis Cup (except for Richie McCaw). The captain’s dinner is a prestigeous event, where 6 of Rugby’s greatest captains host a dinner in the honour of the game and to celebrate a life of rugby.

After 11 months of wearing whatever was clean, we relished the opportunity to clean up, and we cleaned up good (even if I say so myself).

Naturally, the AfricaAsOne team was welcomed with open arms. People were very interested to hear about our journey and about how DHL is helping to spread the game of Rugby across the African continent.

Meeting these legends of the game was a fantastic warm up for the 2015 World Cup! I can’t wait!

The journey involved passing a single rugby ball from hand to hand across 45 countries in 11 months, coupled with customer and employee activations, rugby clinics and CSR activities in […]

The place of many little birds

We spent the day 6,437ft above sea level at lake Bunyonyi. The name means the place of many little birds, and it was amazing! It looked like an oasis out of a storybook. With sights like these, it’s no wonder that Uganda is affectionately known as The Pearl of Africa. The lake is 900m deep […]

Ugandans love their Rugby

On Saturdays we hold a function to say thank you to the DHL customers, and of course to teach local kids the game of rugby. This week’s event was held at an intimate little venue in Kampala. The customers and kids came out in their droves and it turned out to be quite an epic […]

The Mad Market of Happy People and Happy-Making Food

Today was about food – and I found myself thinking back to Swati ‘slow food chef’, Dolores Goddeffrey, and how she said that food is networked to the heart. And walking through the Owino Market in Kampala’s CBD this morning our hearts (and stomachs) were filled to bursting. To get here we had to ditch […]
